If you have ever wondered where I got my blog name from….
May 23′s eats
Hello! I woke up in a really jolly mood today because I was awakened by my lovely cat rubbing her face against my cheek. Seriously? How could anyone wake up in a sour mood with a kitty in their face? Once I was up, I enjoyed a nice Saturday morning breakfast of a bowl of 1 c. Kashi GLC in Brown Cow creamy coffee cream top yogurt, crushed almonds (my family has a special massive rock that we use to crush things), dried cranberries, and blueberries with a strawberry CIS.
I was stuffed after breakfast and decided to walk it off for 15 minutes. When I got back I had to start reading 1984 AGAIN because I had to see my English tutor at 3. Oh how I hate 1984! I don’t understand why I hate it so much if I liked Animal Farm, which was written by the same author and has a similar theme. Have any of you guys ever loved one of the books you have had to read for school? I’ve only liked that one, The Outsiders, and Romeo & Juliet.
For Lunch, I tried something new because I needed to use my last bit of silken tofu before it went bad. I made a Peanut Butter Banana Tofu Spread and it was so yummy! I used the spread for a sandwich using sunflower seeds and whole wheat bread. I had this with a glass of 2% milk.
For those interested, I am going to work on making my recipes page more user friendly and posting more of my favorite recipes, so hang in there
I was already running late when I finished lunch so I had to get ready in about 20 minutes for my “English class”. I hate having to rush! It is one of my biggest pet-peeves. Another one of my pet peeves, is when I tell someone I don’t want to do something and they keep insisting and insisting that I do it. Don’t even get me started about how annoyed I get when someone does that. Ah!
I’m going to keep the rest of the day short because I didn’t really get any pictures due to bad night lighting. We celebrated my brother’s birthday again, at Chili’s this time, and I ordered the grilled salmon with a cup of black beans and veggies. My brother wanted to go to the movie to watch the new Terminator movie and I was really dissappointed with it. I remember my brother and I used to watch Terminator 2 like five times in a row! Before the movie started though, my mom and I discovered this gourmet market right in front of the theatre, I found some of the stuff I had been looking for that I couldn’t find at my local market, so I will be shopping there some time this week! Finally.. something to look forward to other than recovering. While I was there though, I did buy a Lucky Layla Farms drinkable yogurt in the pina colada flavor and a Fruit & Nut Delight Kind Bar.
Those little yogurt bottles are so cute and delicious!
After the movies, I went to HEB and bought the cutest PUMPKIN CHEDDAR crackers with hummus. I was enthralled by them and their cheesy pumpkinny goodness.
And that’s all I ate for the day!
May 24′s eats!
“I started the day by being with Francesca, my best friend, and the coolest person I’ve ever known. She is killer-mazing.” I am with Francesca, the cool middle schooler I told you about, and she told me that saying that would be a good way to start off today’s entry, soo there you go, Fran!
Breakfast was a slice of whole grain toast with Smart Balance, 1/2 a banana, and Cascade Fresh cherry yogurt with 1/2 c. of Kashi GoLean, sunflower seeds, and dried blueberries. Had this with my Carnation Instant Breakfast!
I did a little pilates and took a shower. Today was going to be a busy day. I had someone coming over at 3 to give me private lessons for my orchestra audition. Ohh.. that was so embarassing because I never practice and I had not even picked up my instrument in 3 months.... and the audition etudes looked like Korean to me to top it off.
With my morning coffee, I had a ginger snap Larabar. I liked how spicy it was! It was like biting into a really soft and chewy gingerbread cookie.
I didn’t mention this earlier, but last night my parents were talking about putting my dog to sleep because he is so old and doesn’t have a “good quality of life.” This really hurt me because I don’t want to lose him! And he is still having a good life! Just because he poops when we are gone for four hours we are putting him to sleep? Just because we are going to Colombia for 5 weeks, we have to kill him permanently? I don’t want to lose anything else in my life right now and I have had that dog since I was seven years old. He can still move, and he doesn’t look like he is in pain. Why, oh why do they have to talk about putting him to sleep? I understood when we put my other dog, who was his sister, to sleep because she developed diabetes due to age and started vomiting everything up, even water. I understood that she was NOT living a good life and was in pain, and was very hurt and lonely after her death, but I understood. But how can my parents even consider taking the life of my dog, who is not sick, in a time like this? I swear that he is not ill, I wouldn’t want to keep him alive if I knew he was suffering, I love him too much. I don’t know what my parents are thinking, though. I am going to try my hardest to save his life.
On a lighter note, I took this picture on my web cam before I went to get ready. I look like a fish! HAHAHA.
Lunch was intense. I always consider the meals that involve meats to be intense because they take so much work to chew. Some may disagree, but this is coming from a girl who used to eat a tiny jar of baby food for lunch >:/. I had 4 oz. of chicken, blue corn chips and 3 tbsp. hummus, and some plantain. At the end of my meal, I had some tomatoed rice because I was still a little hungry. See, there I go following hunger cues rather than calorie cues! I totally punched my ED in the face today.
You know, I have been having a really good day. Today I wore a simple white tank top and I looked at myself in the mirror and thought: “Wow, a person with really toned, healthy arms and pretty curves would fill this shirt in really nicely.” And at the moment, i felt like all I wanted was to have a sexy, healthy, toned body, that is not necessarily STICK THIN! It is funny that I feel this way today though, because yesterday, I kind of wanted to give up :/. I guess that meeting my calories the other night kind of triggered my ED to start yelling at me to restrict, but today I am so much better! It just shows how with eating disorders, there is really not much stability. One day can be good, one day can be bad. Life is like a series of ups and downs. Hopefully in time, I will have nothing but ups.
As I write this, I am nearly falling asleep. It is 12:41 AM and I just had loads of fun! I am so tired though, that I mistakened my mom’s purse for my cat… Anyways, I made a lot of progress when my violin tutor came over. He was a nice guy! Once he left, I had my CIS, and my mom took me to Jason’s Deli for a Mediterranean Wrap and a veggie soup before we left for the Conroe lakehouse because I don’t like the restaurant everyone else was planning on going to. I don’t like Mexican food! I am sure I am going to get shot for saying that though, haha.
At Conroe, I met up with my friend Ana and we had quite a bit of fun.. again! I am going to keep the rest of my post light and happy with some pictures from my exciting (and refreshing) night! I feel so much better after having some fun. I really just need to stay entertained to shove my ED out of my thoughts.
THE CREEPY &UNATTRACTIVE ADVENTURES OF ANA AND KARINA VOL. 1
The wait at the restaurant Ana and Karina went to was 1 hour and 30 minutes. They got bored…
So they made a new friend who they decided to name Paco! He was a real wild man…
Ana told Karina she was pretty and took an awkward picture of her face…
Karina disagreed and told her that there was no one prettier than her dad.
Finally, they were seated. Karina got annoyed that everyone but her was eating chips and salsa, so she brought out her Nature’s Path pop tart!
When the food came, Karina had an apple with Peanut Butter.
After the dinner that took 500 hours to complete, they finally went to the lakehouse to eat pie. And play with bananas.
Karina decided to enjoy a nice cup of coffee while she pondered…
No, she is not actually utilizing the facilities. Ana and Karina began to feel devious and decided to send funny pictures to some man. The funny pictures included “see food”, pig dissections, and funky hair-dos. That is what you get for asking for “sexy” pictures. MUAHAHAH. Ana and Karina make a good team.
After the girls said good bye, Karina enjoyed some Oikos with almonds and honey.
THE END! THANKS FOR READING!

Ooh I’ve heard Tristan and Isolde was good, the movie looks so sexy, hahaha. We never read good books at my school, it is so unfair.

Aww sweetie…so so sorry about your dog! I love my dog so much too and I’d be devastated if my parents wanted to put him to sleep!
Looks like you had so much fun with your friend! YAY! Isn’t it great when we stop focusing on stupid ED and actually focus on enjoying the moment!?!? Life is so much better!

HAHAHAHAHAHA! your pictures near the end are so funny! Now tell me, how do plaintains taste? I’ve never had one and I still can’t grasp why I can’t eat it just like a banana?!?! :O
Comment by Nancy— May 25, 2009 #
The taste is difficult to pin point, actually, but I will try my best to explain
Ok, so picture a banana only not as sweet… and with a nice Caribbean taste.. with a faint taste of a warm apple.
And I have no idea why you can’t eat them like a banana! I asked my grandma the other day and she said that she tried to one time when she was younger, and they gave her horrible cramps. I also don’t think they would taste good like a banana anyway because they aren’t sweet, they are more savory than sweet, you know?
You should really try them baked.. or even fried! When they are fried, they are called Patacones or Tostones, and they are TO DIE FOR. I love my exotic fruit

Too cute, too cute. Love it! Paco is a little ladies man.
I’m really sorry to hear about your dog – one of my dog’s is really old, and I’m dreading the day that has to happen. I hope that whatever time you have with him you spend enjoying his company.
As for the books… Everything Shakespeare (Othello, Macbeth, Hamlet, R & J, A Midsummer Night’s Dream), The Revenge of Gaia (non-fiction), Frankenstein, and Animal Farm.
Have a lovely day.

haha, I really loved the picture/story at the end. Hilarious, especially the picture of your dad. I loved Animal Farm and the Outsiders too, btw, but that’s because I’m a total book nerd. Never read 1984, though…
I’m so sorry about your dog. I seriously love animals and can feel your pain. =( Anyway I read your blog a lot and I’m trying to gain weight with pretty much the exact same stats as you. And your blog makes me really want to try Lara bars. =]

I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of days now and I really like your vivacity and just energetic style! I decided to start from the beginning – so I feel like I can get to know you better haha. I also applaud your willingness to battle ED head-on! You rock! You seem so happy and I hope it’s because of your new lifestyle.
And, my favorite way to eat fried platanos is with some mozzarella cheese sprinkled on top – right after you take the plantains out of the pan so the cheese gets gooey and melted. So delicious!
I’m also jealous of all the nice organic foods you have! I’m a poor college student in DC – everything is expensive and even getting fresh fruit seems to cost me an arm and a leg! But I’m glad you seem to like yogurt as much as I do.
